Mannheim, Germany: An Oasis in the Midst of Chaos

For homeless women, life on the streets is often linked with violence. The Caritas oasis in Mannheim offers them a protected space during the day. Men are not allowed to enter. The women take part in organising their daily routine. They do the shopping and cook and eat together. They can also take a bath and wash their clothes. The Caritas team helps them to fill in applications and get appointments at the doctor’s or with debt and drug counselling agencies.
